This is a follow up of our previous article: Is Hoodia Gordonni Effective For Weight Loss?

A few years back , there were a total of only three Hoodia Gordonii products on the U.S. market and Hoodia gordonii was being sold by African farmers at US$13 per kilogram. On November 21, 2004, 60 Minutes aired a report on the effectiveness of the Hoodia Gordonii plant as a natural appetite suppressant. In 2007, there is an estimated 300 products being sold worldwide being touted as "authentic Hoodia Gordonii" with a street rate for Hoodia Gordonii at $250 per kilogram on average. With so many Hoodia Gordonii products claiming to be the authentic one, how do we make sure we are getting the real thing? This is important not just because fake Hoodia Gordonii products are a waste of your money, but they could also be potentially dangerous to your health .

Fast food chains around almost every corner of the streets has made weight loss a primary concern amongst people nowadays. Engaging in various kinds of exercises, such as yoga and pilates, and even undergoing risky cosmetic surgeries , are just some of the things that people undergo just to arrive at the desired body and look they want. However, some may choose not to experience this rigorous and risky practice. That is why they have chosen to take slimming or weight loss pills, like Hoodia Gordonii, instead.

In our previous article , we’ve mentioned about the diet-suppressant properties of Hoodia Gordonii and how it helps weight loss. Hoodia Gordonii comes from an extract of a plant that looks almost like a cactus and that only matures in Southern Africa. Hoodia Gordonii is expensive and difficult to find, particularly as it takes five to seven years to develop. This is what pushed others to manufacture and sell fake diluted Hoodia Gordonii products just to meet the high demand and pocket the money. Recently, many online websites have announced that there has been a spread of 50% percent of weight loss products that claim they contain Hoodia Gordonii when in fact they have the fake, diluted versions.

Fearing that fake Hoodia Gordonii products will causedangerous side effects and discredit the authentic Hoodia Gordonii product, Prime Life Nutriceuticals, the original maker of Hoodia Gordonii weight loss pills, has declared a certification program where consumers can test if the Hoodia Gordoni they have purchased is real. One of the most prominent herbal testing facilities in the U.S., the Alchemist Pharmaceuticals , was contacted in order to help verify the presence of real Hoodia Gordonii. Analysis shows that there are several ways to detect a fake Hoodia Gordonii.

Signs you’ve got fake Hoodia Gordonii

The first and most obvious way of checking if you’ve fake Hoodia Gordonii is to check if the product’s seal has an authenticated Lot Number, which means that it has undergone the test in the Independent Lab Report done by the Alchemist Pharmaceuticals . Besides that, also check if the premium products report date is within six months after purchase.

One other way to make sure is by checking if your Hoodia Gordonii product has the banner C.I.T.E.S or a certification proving that it truly came from South Africa. Such certificate also testifies that the Hoodia Gordonii has been processed from its growth in South Africa. The certificate should be clear and readable, otherwise, it will only prove a counterfeit.

Fake Hoodia Gordonii products may also have additional information on additives, fillers and other agents, which are actually insignificant for authentic Hoodia Gordonii products. Keep off products that claim that they have more Hoodia Gordonii than the original. These may seem appealing but entirely dangerous because it may have more diluted fillers that can make a normal person sick. Normal people can only carry 80 mgs of Hoodia Gordonii in their bodies at a time.

Beware of those who offer free trials for Hoodia Gordonii and those who sell supposed Hoodia Gordonii weight los productss in a bottle of tea, coffee or shake. Hoodia products are unlikely to and will probably never be free. In fact, as mentioned, it is very expensive, with a price of $250 to $400 per kilogram. Lastly, always make sure that you purchase this one of a kind weight loss pill at an established store or company that has verifiable and complete credentials.
